Stabilur tablets stabilize urine specimens for delayed laboratory microscopic examination of urine sediment. The tablets contain a proprietary mixture of buffering and osmolality adjustment ingredients, plus agents which produce a minute quantity of several bacteriostatic chemicals sufficient to prevent bacterial degradation of urine constituents, without interfering with most analysis. They have a shelf-life of 5 years after the date of purchase. Type B immersion oils are used in a variety of medical work for example in the mounting of slides with blood samples during blood testing. Types A and B are the most economical oils to use for normal light microscopy. The optimum viscosity for the users application is the deciding factor between which to use.
